Santa Barbara Festival Ballet presents Nutcracker at The Arlington, with Live, Full Symphony Orchestra – Elise Unruh, Conductor. Featuring Professional Guest Artists: Chase Finlay, Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet, (Cavalier),  Michele Wiles, Principal Dancer with Ballet Next, (Sugar Plum Fairy) , Devyn Lovett with Ballet West (Nutcracker), Tracy Kofford, Artistic Director of Dance SBCC (Arabian Cavalier).  

Celebrating a 40th Anniversary this year, Nutcracker At The Arlington is recognized as one of the rare and longest continuously running productions in the USA performed with a live orchestra!  Featuring Professional Guest Artists: Chase Finlay, Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet, (Cavalier), Michele Wiles, Principal Dancer with Ballet Next, (Sugar Plum Fairy) , Devyn Lovett with Ballet West (Nutcracker), Tracy Kofford, Artistic Director of Dance SBCC (Arabian Cavalier). Grace Barker, a junior at Dos Pueblos High School, as Clara, joins Santa Barbara Festival Ballet Company Dancers,  UCSB Department of Dance, SBFB Dance Conservatory students and community members, all to portray over 100 roles on the Arlington stage.  

Delighting family members of all ages, SBFB takes you on a magical journey with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince. Experience the wonderment of this classic tale by E.T.A. Hoffman, as Herr Drosselmeyer’s Clock Work Dolls dance to life, a giant Christmas Tree grows before your eyes,  Rat King and Toy Soldiers battle through canon explosions on stage,  and surprises galore unfold in the Kingdom of Sweets.   “It is an honor to provide our Central Coast communities with the full cultural experience of the classic ballet The Nutcracker , with Tchaikovsky’s music played by a full symphony orchestra, all under the stars of our historic Arlington Theater,” Denise Rinaldi, Artistic Director.

Mayor Helene Schneider presents Santa Barbara Festival Ballet with City Proclamation and declares NUTCRACKER WEEK IN SANTA BARBARA – December 8th, 2014 through December 14th, 2014 in honor of 50 Years in business & the 40th Anniversary of Nutcracker at the Arlington.

WHEREAS, the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet was established in 1964 to offer the finest in Classical Ballet training to both children and adults, and devoted to advancing the art of Classical Ballet throughout the greater Santa Barbara area, WHEREAS, the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet is celebrating their 40th Anniversary production of The Nutcracker BalletWHEREAS, the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet reached a milestone in 2012 by casting more than one thousand Santa Barbara children and adults in their annual production of The NutcrackerWHEREAS, countless Santa Barbara children and adults have grown-up with the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet’s Nutcracker by attending the performance at the Arlington Theatre, by dancing in the production, by playing in the symphony orchestra, by singing in the choir, or by attending one of Santa Barbara Festival Ballet’s multiple Outreach programs, WHEREAS, the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet now has alumni dancing in companies throughout the United States of America and throughout the world, NOW, THEREFORE I, MAYOR HELENE SCHNEIDER, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Santa Barbara, California, celebrate Santa Barbara Festival Ballet’s 50th Anniversary and 40th Anniversary of The Nutcracker, and declare the week of December 8th 2014 through December 14th 2014, Nutcracker Week in Santa Barbara, California.
