Widespread Panic Announces 2014 Tour Dates
Venerable sextet Widespread Panic has announced dates for their always highly anticipated 2014 Spring Tour, which includes stops in some tried and true cities as well as a few surprises. The band is fresh off their sold out New Year's Eve Show in Atlanta, which was broadcast live on Sirius XM.
The 2014 spring tour kicks off with the band performing a string of six totally acoustic shows in Richmond, VA, Birmingham, AL and two nights at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. 2012 marked the first time that the band performed totally acoustic shows as part of their hugely successful "Wood Tour" which was recorded and released as a double CD and Vinyl boxed set. Following the Ryman shows, the band will head to the Dominican Republic for the plugged in four night Panic En La Playa extravaganza at Hard Rock Hotel. After returning stateside, the tour heads to the West Coast where Panic will be making stops in Seattle, Portland, Oakland, Reno, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. The tour caps off with the band's first-ever appearance at the Azalea Festival in Wilmington, NC.
Widespread Panic is a legendary national touring force and continues to break attendance records in major venues across the country. This year's return to Morrison, CO for an appearance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre marked the band's 42nd consecutive sold out show at the venue.
Never losing sight of giving back, the band continues to organize "food drive events" at their concerts. Since 2008, Panic's fans have helped raise over $73,000 in monetary donations and over 9,100 pounds of food. The band also recently hosted their annual Tunes For Tots benefit at the Atlanta Symphony Hall. To date, the band has raised well over one million dollars for Tunes For Tots, a program which helps public schools buy musical instruments for their students.
