UCSB Arts & Lectures presents Winter Cinema 2011 –
A compelling line-up of international films including the Best of the 35th Annual Banff Mountain Film Festival

The Orfalea Foundations and UCSB Arts & Lectures present a FREE public screening of the groundbreaking documentary film on the impact of undue academic pressures Race to Nowhere at the Arlington Theatre

A panel discussion including Dr. Madeline Levine (a psychologist on student stress and best-selling author), a university admissions director, and a mother and daughter pair, will immediately follow the screening.

·       The new documentary by director Vicki Abeles has ignited a national conversation about the culture of hollow achievement and pressure to perform that has invaded America’s schools, destroying children’s love of learning and feeding an epidemic of disengaged and unhealthy students
